Fish on the Himalayan Mountains
Fish on the Himalayan Mountains?
The largest and highest mountains in the world are the Himalayas.
The Himalayan Mountains are between the subcontinent and China.
Scientists have found fossils of fish and other aquatic animals in these mountains.
But how did they reach such a height?
The reason is that millions of years ago there were two giants of the earth.
Gondwana and Laurasia. Gondwana included India, Africa, Australia, Antarctica, and South America.
While Russia included Russia, North America, Europe and Asia.
Between these two continents was a sea called Tethys Sea. The upper surface of the earth called the crust is actually floating on the layer of molten rocks inside the earth and it is divided into many parts and keeps colliding with each other.
Earthquakes also occur for the same reason and mountains are also formed at those places where two or more plates collide.
That is why most of the earthquakes occur in mountainous areas.
This is what happened millions of years ago, when two big giants collided and the sea surface rose between them and mountains were formed.
The upper surface of the mountains was actually the surface of the sea in the past while the lower parts were the surface of these two continents.
How did we know this?
From the different textures of the rocks, and the fossils of marine life found here.
The earth was not what it is today and will never be what it is now
